Dr. Greg Crawford renewed as Dean, FSci
The Office of the Provost announces the renewal of Greg Crawford, PhD for a second term as Dean, Faculty of Science (FSci), beginning Monday, July 1.
Dr. Crawford joined the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2014. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
During his first term, Dr. Crawford has led or supported several significant projects in FSci, including:
- Major investments in high-end scientific equipment to support teaching and research in the sciences (e.g. DNA sequencer; magnetic resonance spectroscope chemical analyses; high-end computer server for artificial intelligence applications).
- New and expanded partnerships with a range of government and industry organizations, supporting faculty-based and collaborative research projects as well as research infrastructure investments.
- Development of a new Math Readiness Program to enhance student success.
- Creation of a Science Café by innovative Science faculty members to increase engagement and success of our students.
- Review and revision of the Biological Sciences program to better align with students’ and employers’ needs.
- More support for expanded co-op opportunities and deeper experiential learning.
