#ShopLocal campaigns in Durham Region
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected local shops and services. As the holiday season approaches, a number of municipalities have launched campaigns to promote giving and shopping locally:
- The City of Oshawa encourages Oshawa businesses and community members to participate in the as part of Mayor Dan Carter’s Economic Recovery Task Force.
- Durham Tourism, in partnership with the Durham Region Joint Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade, have launched #ShopInDurham, a campaign celebrating local businesses. This holiday season when you support local in Durham Region by using the hashtag #ShopInDurham, you could win one of eight municipally inspired prize packages with an estimated retail value of $500 per prize. .
