Student Life launches new Â鶹´«Ã½ Health Promotion website

The Office of Student Life has launched a new where students can find tips, events and health- and wellness-related resources.

The website provides information related to the Seven Dimensions of Wellness (physical, mental, social, environmental, vocational, financial and spiritual), including strategies and resources to help students develop healthy goals and habits.

On the website students can find all upcoming Health Promotion events and workshops, highlights from the new Peer Wellness Education team of student volunteers, and a link to the Â鶹´«Ã½ 2022 Health and Wellness Recipe Book.

The Office of Student Life will offer a number of events and workshops for students in October:

Fall 2022 Nutrition Sessions

In partnership with Holistic Nutritionist Sylvia Emmorey, Student Life will host in-person and virtual nutrition sessions for students on various topics. These educational and interactive sessions will involve a recipe demonstration and taste-testing opportunity.

  • Natural Mood Boosters:
    • When: Tuesday November 22 from noon to 1 p.m.
    • Where: Virtual (Google Meet). .

Mindful Movement

Mindful Movement involves focusing on noticing and feeling what your body does while engaging in movement; this practice can help if you are feeling overwhelmed, tired, self-conscious or anxious. Â鶹´«Ã½ students are invited to join Siobhan O’Connor, Registered Yoga Therapist, to pause and practice mindful movement and help reduce burnout.

  • When: Wednesdays starting October 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Where: North Oshawa Campus Library, Fireside Reading Room
