National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and Women in Engineering Sub-Society at Â鶹´«Ã½ University invite the campus and local community to a memorial ceremony to remember the 14 women who were murdered in an act of gender-based violence at École Polytechnique de Montréal on December 6, 1989.
The memorial event will consist of a ceremony to recognize the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and will include candle lighting, the reading of the victims’ names, a moment of silence, and a few speakers from the Â鶹´«Ã½ community.
The ceremony will remember and honour the women who lost their lives that day and provide an opportunity for the campus community to share stories and reflect on the violence that remains a daily reality for girls and women around the world.
